Golden Square Give The Edge To Girls Aloud Promo

Golden Square has just completed the post-production on a brand new Girls Aloud Video for their catchy new single 'Sexy, No, No, No'.
The video sees the five-strong girl band dressed alternately in matching black PVC catsuits and billowing red PVC dresses. The background is dark, mirroring their outfits in shades of red and black and the overall futuristic feel is emphasised by severe shading, metallic, extreme make up and robotic movements.
The animation work for Girls Aloud was split into two parts.
Firstly Golden Square had to create a huge space for the green screen shots of the girls that would match both the set that Trudy shot in Greenford Studios, and photographs of the deserted warehouses at Silvertown in East London. These were later used as backgrounds and environments by Fasa in Flame.
Dave Child, at Golden Square commented: “The biggest challenge was to create something that looked real yet fantastical at the same time. Trudy provided us with around 100 hi-res digital stills which we were able to use as textures as well as reference.”
Meanwhle, Fasa created the entire warehouse set using a combination of 2D & 3D composits. The client wanted to achieve a flawless integration of 2D & 3D by motion tracking the stills into the background of the chroma keys.
The second part of the job was to add gigantic CG pins to create a sense of danger and movement - the practical pins that we had to match were 20 foot scaffolding poles which would be too dangerous to swing past the band. Andy Taplin, who created the oversized needles, said: "Having been on set to see how Trudy created her vision, we were able to start work ahead of the TK and conform, which enabled us to complete 25 complicated shots in just over 1 week."
