Golden Square Create 'Specklie' For Specsavers

Golden Square’s character development department has followed up its work on Mr and Mrs Rabbit for Airwick with a new character for Specsavers in Ireland.
Based on an illustration from director Gerald McMorrow, Golden Square developed the ‘Specklie’ character in 3D using the creative talents of Jasper Kidd, Sean Elliott and Miguel Barron Bilbao.
Golden Square has worked on several high profile Specsavers commercials over the last two years. This is the third job in a row, following the success of Strepsils and Airwick, that has required the 3D department (Jasper, Sean and Miguel) to develop and build character animation, and the first time as photo real to sit within live action.
Graham Daldry and Gerald McMorrow worked closely with our 3D team to ensure the Specklie interacted seamlessly with the live action elements, and fulfilled the brief of being a cheeky, playful character. The commercial will air only in Republic of Ireland.
Matt Stevens has recently joined Golden Square as a junior art director to complement their existing character animation skills and expanding 3D department.
Golden Square Post Production was founded in 1999 by Phil Gillies, Ewan MacLeod, Alan Young, Brian Stephens and Harry Jarman.
Earlier this year Golden Square Post Production launched Disqo, their innovative digital production operation, with the aim of offering creative and production expertise in the digital arena. Golden Square have set up a facility in Shanghai with the Digital Agency Profero.
