Golden Square Posts Macmillan Cancer Support Campaign

Golden Square have collaborated with directing duo Harvey and Carolyn on a new commercial for Macmillan Cancer Support’s new campaign.
Using a combination of silhouetted live action shots with computer-generated sets, ‘Journey’ illustrates the variety of support Macmillan offers helping to improve the lives of those affected by cancer other than through its nurses.
The visual concept for this commercial is quite simple: a silhouetted hero interacts with other silhouetted people in environments depicting each area of support, whether it is financial, emotional or practical, provided by Macmillan. Everything is depicted in shades of green with a white background creating strong branding within a soft and caring environment.
Rachel Stones, Producer at Golden Square, commented: “The commercial was shot entirely in a blue screen studio with the actors dressed in primary colours that were easy to key off. In order to separate the individual people and the elements of the scene we used a mixture of chroma keys and spline matting. Interesting transitions were also required to create a flowing and visually stunning commercial. Using HD allowed us the freedom to build these transitions while maintaining the integrity of the image.”
