LACIE LAUNCH LARGER U&I POCKETDRIVE

News Image
DIGITAL content creators on the move are to benefit from the new LaCie PocketDrive range which is now available in a 30GB capacity.
The drives measuring 3.5" x 5.75" and weighing in at 360 grams are among the world’s smallest hard drives and are one of the first storage peripherals to offer both Universal Serial Bus (USB) and high speed IEEE-1394 FireWire support - U&I in LaCie's branded acronym for dual-support capability.
George Leptos, UK Branch Manager at LaCie said: "Our larger capacity PocketDrive line provides everything digital content creators and creative professionals need to meet the storage requirements of today's demanding, data-intensive applications. The new PocketDrives provide high capacity, fast access, reliability and mobility in a compact design. Futhermore cross-platform interoperability and the ability to quickly share large files with our U&I connectivity approach demonstrates why our PocketDrives have been so popular."
The LaCie U&I PocketDrives support Apple’s Firewire and USB equipped iMac, G3 and G4 workstations and as well as suitably equipped PCs.
Users can share the contents of the entire drive with others, using it as a data-shuttle. LaCie say that the PocketDrives have proved particularly popular with mobile professionals as data can quickly be transferred from laptop to desktop and vice versa.
In case of computer breakdown or theft, the drive can be plugged into any other computer and work resumed in minutes. The capacity and performance of the new LaCie hard drives also make them ideal for full backups of an internal drive.
