LACIE UNVEILS 9.4GB FIREWIRE DVD-RAM DRIVE

LACIE has confirmed that it will be showcasing its new DVD-RAM FireWire drive at Apple Expo Europe, in September 2000.
The new LaCie DVD-RAM 94 rewriteable DVD drive offers an impressive capacity of 9.4 GB per disc, providing twice the performance and almost twice the capacity, when compared to the first generation 2.6GB DVD-RAM drive.
Scheduled for delivery this autumn, this new high-speed DVD-RAM drives will bring users the hot-swappable benefits of the FireWire interface as well as a flexible, removable and rewriteable storage capacity. There are two media options; 4.7GB DVD-RAM drive provides transfer rates of up to 22.16MB/sec and seek times of 95ms. Media is available as a bare disc or in a protective cartridge. The 4.7GB removable, rewriteable media has the capacity to store a 2-hour cinema quality video on single side.
