GRANADA MEDIA RENEWS ANGLIA LICENCE
THE ITC have announced the financial terms that will be offered to Anglia Television, and Granada Media have agreed to renew their Anglia Television licence.
The ITC have asked Granada Media to pay £3.42 million annually for the 10-year licence.
Sir Robert Bingham, ITC Chairman, said: “The terms represent a fair assessment of the value of renewing the successful Anglia licence. In setting the financial terms the ITC looks to ensure that licensees can continue to provide an excellent range and quality of national and regional services whilst providing a fair return to the Treasury for the right to broadcast.”
Last year, based on the complex percentage qualifying revenue (PQR) analogue licence arrangements, £21.2 million was paid for the licence.
The new financial terms are derived from the ITC’s own financial modelling which is informed by the business plan submitted by Anglia and other external data and research.
The ITC are required to set tender payments to the Government based on the value of the licence as if they were put out to competitive tender.
Anglia Television have agreed to accept the terms for renewal.
