ITC ANNOUNCE FINANCIAL TERMS TO DBI

THE Independent Television Commission (ITC) have announced the financial terms that will be offered to Data Broadcasting International (DBI) if they choose to apply to renew their analogue Commercial Additional Service Licence ‘A’ for the ten-year period beginning September 30 2001.
The ITC are required to set tender payments to the Government based on the value of the analogue licence as if they were put out to competitive tender.
DBI's present terms are a percentage of qualifying revenue (PQR) of five per cent and an annual cash sum of £29,300 in 2000. From September 30 onwards, the annual cash bid payment will rise to £45,000 and the PQR will increase to eight per cent, resulting in higher forecasted tender payments. The new cash sum will become payable from January 1 2002.
The financial terms are derived from the ITC's own financial modelling which is informed by the business plan submitted by DBI and other external data and research.
If DBI choose to reject the terms offered the licence will be re-advertised by competitive tender. The terms are not a matter of negotiation. (CD)
