ITC invite comment on Channel 5 licence renewal
The Independent Television Commission (ITC) is inviting comments on the methodology for the renewal of the Channel 5 licence.
The current 10-year licence term for Channel 5 expires on March 29, 2007, and the first opportunity for Channel 5 to apply formally to renew its licence occurs on Sunday March 30, 2003. The latest date for Channel 5 to submit a firm expression of interest for renewal will be 30 September 2002.
The ITC will not fundamentally change the methodology and procedures used during the most recent Channel 3 licence renewals. Nevertheless, given that two years have elapsed since the ITC consulted on that methodology, we are seeking views on the timetable proposed, the administrative procedure, the methodology for setting renewal terms, the general approach to forecasting revenues and cost.
A copy of the consultation paper is available on the ITC's website, www.itc.org.uk
Responses must arrive no later than April 8, 2002, and responses should be sent to Strategy, Economics and Finance, Channel 5 Licence Renewal Consultation, 33 Foley Street, London W1W 7TL.
Emails can also be sent to [email protected] and all e-mail responses should include a reference to the Channel 5 Licence Renewal Consultation in the subject line.
Copies of responses will be placed in the public domain unless confidentiality is requested. Responses made via e-mail will be available electronically.
