TELETEXT EXPRESS INTEREST IN RENEWING THEIR LICENCE

THE ITC have received a formal expression of interest from Teletext in renewing their licence from January 1 2002.
The licensee has provided the ITC with a business plan and details of the proposed services to be provided over the next ten-year period of the licence to assist the ITC in determining the value of the renewed licence.
The ITC will take account of the costs and revenues associated with current licence obligations and any firm commitments from the licensee to improve upon these obligations. The ITC must set the amounts to be paid to Government by licensees over the next ten years.
The licensee can either accept the financial terms set by the ITC or reject them, in which case the licence will be re-advertised by a competitive tender. The terms are not a matter of negotiation. (CD)
