ITC AWARD LICENCE TO BSKYB
THE ITC have awarded a non-exclusive local delivery service licence to BSkyB following their application published in July 2001.
The licence permits the provision of television and related services over telephone networks and/or broadband cable, allowing BSkyB to offer a full range of multichannel television and related services in all parts of the United Kingdom.
BSkyB are proposing to roll-out services over the networks of duly licensed telecommunications systems operators, using DSL equipment via the local telecommunications networks of, for example, BT and/or Kingston Communications, and/or broadband cable networks.
A nominal cash bid of £1 has been made for the licence, in addition to administrative licence fees, and the ITC has set the percentage of qualifying revenue to be paid for all non-exclusive licences at zero. (CD)
