100 years of T-Rex to be celebrated in ground breaking documentary

Nadine Nohr, Managing Director of Granada International, has announced that the company has acquired international distribution rights for the brand new Impossible Pictures' documentary 'Tyrannosaurus Rex'.
Commissioned by the BBC to celebrate the centenary of the first description of Tyrannosaurus Rex, the 1 x 60 minute film retrospective combines cgi, feature-film footage and humour along with a gripping science narrative and takes a wry look at how palaeontology and popular culture have combined to create a ‘monster of rock’.
Mark Reynolds, Head of Factual at Granada International, commented: "We've seen many dinosaur documentaries over the years. However this is a unique expose of how the story of T-Rex has been recorded throughout time.”
Jasper James, Executive Producer at Impossible Pictures, added: "We’ve never made a show quite like this – frankly no-one ever has. It’s going to be a unique combination of factual and mockumentary. Docu-comedy/humour-mentary/Dino-graphy, call it what you will, for us it’s a whole new opportunity to prod at the boundaries of film-making and we’re delighted to be partnering with Granada International to make it happen."
On October 5 in 1905 T-Rex was introduced to the world by adventuring palaeontologist Barnum T. Brown. This programme will celebrate the anniversary by personifying this dinosaur and using its cultural history to create a tongue-in-cheek biography.
Fictitious ‘behind-the-scenes’ archive of T-Rex on set and interviews with co-stars like King Kong are created as a way to tell the story of how T-Rex’s image has changed with time - both culturally and scientifically. This is an entertaining and visually clever celebration of what is arguably the most famous and important fossil ever.
