Documentary and the International Marketplace initiative launched

Media Service NI has announced the launch of the Documentary and the International Marketplace initiative aimed at introducing the local documentary sector to the major players in the international marketplace.
The first phase of the initiative includes two workshops, five months, apart leading to pitching opportunities with international commissioning editors. The programme was developed in association with Tue Steen Muller of the European Documentary Network (EDN) and Sibylle Kurz, pitching consultant.
A flyer for Documentary and the International Marketplace can be downloaded from the www.nifc.co.uk. The completed downloadable application form must be returned by September 7. However, the NIFTC and MEDIA Service NI are not the only decision-makers involved in the selection of participants - places are very limited and selection will be competitive.
NIFTC and MEDIA Service NI advise applicants to follow the application procedure with the project that best fits the programme - the suitability of candidates and submitted projects willl be discussed with programme advisors. If the candidate profile fits the selection criteria but there are doubts about the suitability of the project submitted it may still be possible to discuss the suitability of any alternative projects applicants may wish to subsequently submit.
Some advance information about the second phase is also included in the flyer although these plans remain provisional.
