Sheffield International Documentary Festival appoints Deputy Director

The Sheffield International Documentary Festival has announced the appointment of Jo Wingate as Deputy Director.
Originally from Sheffield, Wingate joins the festival team with an impressive track record in sponsorship and marketing.
A respected figure within the arts industry in the North of England, she was responsible for the development and growth of a wide range of events and venues over the past 11 years, Wingate will work closely with Festival Director Brent Woods, and is set to help the Sheffield International Documentary Festival fulfil new ambitions.
Previously a Marketing and Fundraising Consultant, Wingate advised and worked with a variety of creative businesses, including film and arts festivals, visual arts organisations and new media companies. Prior to this, she was Head of Marketing and Development at Cornerhouse Manchester, where she devised and implemented marketing and fundraising strategies. Wingate spent several years working in independent cinemas across the country, including Metro, Derby, Broadway Media Centre, Nottingham and the Showroom, Sheffield.
Wingate said: “The documentary festival has provided me with a rare opportunity to work with a talented team on an event of international repute, where public audiences mingle with industry professionals in a creative and dynamic environment.
The festival is already a major event on the media calendar, and we aim to build on this to make it unmissable. We will be looking to open doors to new funders, sponsors and organisations for creative partnerships.”
The Sheffield International Documentary Festival is the premier event in the UK dedicated solely to the art of documentary film.
A selection of festival highlights from 2003 is touring the UK until the end of April.
