SHEFFIELD INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY C4 INTERVIEW

SHEFFIELD International Documentary Festival (SIDF) have announced Emmy award winning journalist Lowell Bergman will be the subject of this year’s Channel 4 interview.
Bergman’s battle against corporate censorship to save a hard-hitting CBS documentary about the tobacco industry was recently brought to a wider public through the feature film ‘The Insider’.
The Festival opened yesterday, and will continue to run until October 22. The programme of sessions and masterclasses will address the current issues confronting documentary makers, while offering practical advice for filmmakers of the future.
In response to popular demand, the Festival organisers have expanded their masterclass programme for the second year in succession, to provide the unique opportunity to hear directly from some of the leading practioners in the documentary field.
Highlights of the sessions and masterclass programmes will include ‘BigWorld:Small Screen’ on Friday October 20; a day-long discussion between broadcasters, filmmakers; and leading organisations in response to two major reports over the past year.
For the first time SIDF will be broadcasting highlight’s of their week long programme on the internet.
Webcasts will feature interviews with filmmakers, delegates, comments and feedback from some of the key sessions at the festival.
Further information can be found at www.sidf.co.uk or contact the Festival office on tel: +44(0114 276 5141.
