International Academy to host International Interactive Emmy Awards
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and Reed MIDEM have announced that the International Academy will be presenting International Interactive Emmy Awards and a Pioneer Prize, in partnership with Reed MIDEM, for the second year in a row.
The International Interactive Emmy Awards at MIPTV 2007 will take place in Cannes, France on Wednesday, April 18, 2007. The deadline for entries is December 11, 2006.
“Following the success of last year’s inaugural International Interactive Emmy Awards, The International Academy is pleased to be recognizing interactive television at MIPTV once again,” said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of the Academy. “We are looking forward to even more entries and international participation this year."
"We are delighted to continue our partnership with The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences," said Reed MIDEM CEO and International Academy board member, Paul Zilk. "The first International Interactive Emmy Awards created an outstanding event last year at MIPTV and we are certain that this new edition will be even more significant."
The three International Interactive Emmy Award categories are:
Interactive Program: for television programming that has been enhanced with interactive content
Interactive Channel: for a non-linear channel that is available to the viewer on a 24/7 basis accessible through their television which allows the viewer to interact and engage with content on their television screen
Interactive TV Service: for an overall stand-alone system that allows users to access multiple, video, audio, data and interactive applications.
The Pioneer Prize is not an Emmy, but rather a special initiative of the Academy that will honor an industry personality for his/her innovative contributions to the field of interactive television.
