BBC Millbank refurbished with Quartz routers

Quartz Electronics have supplied new routers for the BBC's Millbank studios in Westminster primarily for use in parliamentary broadcasting from the House of Commons and House of Lords.
A Quartz Q128 configured as a 128x128 serial video router has been installed along with four 64x128 analogue audio routers and various control panels as part of a major refurbishment.
Occupying just 12U, the router has an ultra-shallow chassis (150 mm front-to-back), simplifying the task of rear-cable installation. The Q128 employs front-access hot-swappable modules and is expandable from 32x32 to suit most applications.
The Q6400 Audio routers (64x128 in 6U) have a synchronous option for 'click-free' switching, and transformer coupled inputs and outputs with DC protection to reject common-mode signals.
BBC Technology's Consulting & Projects have upgraded Millbank's central technical area and newsroom while Maidenhead-based systems company TSL rebuilt the main studio, graphics and record/TX areas. Each of these areas have Quartz routing products and control, including the newsroom where journalists' headphone feeds are selected via PC software.
Formed in 1990, Quartz Electronics Ltd have achieved a high reputation for the reliability and flexibility of its routing and system-control equipment. Responding to customer needs, the company have produced solutions that match the technical and operational demands imposed in live broadcasting.
Quartz's expanding product range is designed to be cost-effective, versatile and space-efficient and is backed by high-grade technical support.
