SVERIGES TV SELECTS QUARTZ ROUTERS

UK COMPANY Quartz have been chosen by Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT) to replace all the routers in Studio 2, one of the network's largest production resources.
Located at SVT's main premises in Stockholm, the 600 square metre studio is used for the production of live and recorded magazine and entertainment programmes including talk shows, drama series and specials. Chosen for their high on-air reliability, the routers were supplied by Quartz' Swedish distributor TTS Protel.
32 x 32 serial digital video and stereo audio routers were chosen to handle Studio 2's main signal and VTR channels. A separate 64 x 64 analogue video router is being used by SVT to connect composite video to 21 monitors and other destinations. A TR-3200 tally router completes the router line-up, picking up the parallel tallies from the vision mixer and driving the lamps of the under-monitor-displays.
Eight separate control panels permit remote operation of the routers. Swedish Television are using a Quartz CP-3208 as their main transmission control panel. This allows up to 32 sources to be routed to any of eight destinations.
The system configuration can be edited using the latest version of Quartz's WinSetup software running on a PC. This provides easy editing of source/destination names and button functions. Integral diagnostic facilities can be used to check the online status of the control system.
Formed in 1990, Quartz Electronics Limited have achieved a high reputation for the reliability and flexibility of their routing and system-control equipment. Responding to customer needs, the company have produced solutions that match the technical and operational demands imposed in live broadcasting.
Quartz say that their expanding product range is designed to be cost-effective, versatile and space-efficient and is backed by high-grade
technical support. As the company progresses into a second decade, the strategy is to apply engineering excellence to meet present and future broadcast requirements.
