Irish Short Films Part Of The Spread At Electric Picnic

For the second year running, a wide selection of award winning Irish short films will get an outing at the Electric Picnic music festival, which takes place next weekend from August 31 – September 2.
There will be two special programmes of IFB funded short films which will screen on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of September as part of the film line-up in the Electric Picnic Cinema Tent.
The Cinema Tent provides a welcome alternative to other higher energy activities at the festival, with dramatic velvet draping, giant beanbags and popcorn on hand to complete the experience. Running around the clock all weekend, the cinema programme will also feature cult classics, comedy blockbusters, animations, bone chilling horror movies, sci-fi and 80's classics.
The first screening on Saturday night will specialize in live action short films and the second on Sunday morning will focus on new Irish animation. Highlights of the selection include the multi award winning films The White Dress directed by Vanessa Gildea, which picked up awards at the Belfast, Foyle, Galway and Kerry film festivals over the last year and Ciaran Foy’s film The Faeries of Blackheath which also scopped a host of awards last year. Edith Pieperhoff’s film The Faery Wind which was selected for the Berlin Film Festival last year is also screening along with Stars directed by Eoghan Kidney. Stars is an animated short film which stars the voices of Domhnall Gleeson (Studs) and Ruth Nega (Breakfast on Pluto).
