Short film wins award at Venice Film Festival

The UK Film Council is celebrating the success of its Lottery funded short film 'The Making of Parts' which has won the Prix UIP for Best European Short at the 63rd Venice Film Festival 2006.
The film will now screen at 20 festivals across Europe and receives a nomination to compete for overall winner for Best European Short in December 2006.
The Making of Parts is directed by new writer and director Daniel Elliott, whose previous films have been screened at film festivals world-wide and have received several awards and nominations.
The Making of Parts received support from the UK Film Council's new Digital Shorts Plus scheme and Northern Film and Media. Digital Shorts Plus provides a progression route for promising directors previously supported through the New Cinema Fund's Digital Shorts scheme by offering awards to projects with budgets up to £20,000.
The UK Film Council's International Department also provided additional support alongside Northern Film & Media and the British Council for prints and promotional material to support the film in Venice.
