Young Jury Panel Wanted To Judge Short And Feature Films

The Cinemagic World Screen Festival for Young People is currently selecting a jury panel of 10 to 18 year olds to judge short and feature films.
The panel will have the opportunity to watch all of the films that are being screened in competition during the Festival (November 17 to December 3, 2006, in various venues in Belfast) and to choose a number of winning entries.
As a jury member you will spend 15 fun filled days with the Festival team, helping to decide the winners of ‘Best Feature Film for a Children’s Audience’ and ‘Best Short Film for a Children’s Audience’. The categories will be judged by a jury of 10 to 15 year olds, whilst a panel of 15 to 18 year olds will vote for ‘Best Feature for a Teenage Audience’ and ‘Best Short Film for a Teenage Audience'.
Jury members will have a great opportunity to meet industry professionals and to present the awards at Storm Cinemas on the closing night. It also offers young people the chance to meet others with a similar passion for film and to make new friends, whilst expanding your understanding of the different genres of film.
To be in with a chance to sit on the jury simply write an imaginative letter or e-mail, no longer than 300 words, explaining why you would like to be on the jury and send it by Wednesday November 8, 2006 by email: claire
You must have permission from your parent/guardian and your school to be a jury member and be able to arrange your own transport to and from the Festival.
For those who enjoy film but may not have the time to participate in the jury, they can take advantage of the special preview screenings such as 'The Santa Clause3: The Escape Clause' (Buena Vista International), 'Flushed Away' (Dreamworks/Aardman); or international features such as 'Kirikou and the Wild Beasts', 'Opal Dream', 'Paula’s Secret', 'Lapislazuli', 'Finding Friends', 'Tsotsi', 'Charlie II', 'Children of the Moon' and 'Young Andersen'. A number of family, teenage and kids’ classics including 'Singin’ in the Rain', 'Meet me in St Louis', 'The Princess Bride', 'Toy Story', 'Beetlejuice', 'Time Bandits' and 'Down at Fraggle Rock' mean that the programme really does cater for all tastes and age groups!
With Translink offering a 2 for 1 deal on presentation of a valid bus or rail ticket this is an added incentive to increase the number of visits you pay to the cinema during the Cinemagic Festival.
