SysMedia Launch Teletext-to-DVB Subtitle Transcoder
SysMedia has announced the launch of its new teletext-to-DVB subtitle transcoder, the SDR7.
The SDR7 extracts teletext subtitles from an analogue video signal and converts them to the equivalent DVB subtitles.
The SDR7 is a simple and reliable solution to a recurrent issue for broadcasters in a world of multiple formats. It will also assist in the need to comply with ever-tightening legislation in terms of subtitle provision.
Available in 1U or 2U packages, the SDR7 is designed to complement existing teletext subtitling systems. It can be easily added to any teletext subtitle transmission system without the need to change established subtitle authoring or transmission processes. The unit can also act as a DVB subtitling inserter, using established teletext subtitling protocols.
Andrew Pons, Head of Sales and Marketing, said: "The SDR7 allows broadcasters to include subtitles for the hearing impaired both on digital versions of existing analogue services and on new DVB services without disturbing existing infrastructure or subtitle creation workflows. As digital transition planning starts all over Europe, SysMedia's approach allows broadcasters to maintain and expand subtitling services in a very cost-effective manner."
