Rushes Soho Shorts Festival calls for entries

The Rushes Soho Shorts Festival is calling for entries, and the festival's fifth year promises to be the biggest and best yet.
Entries must have been produced in the last 12 months (up to May 6 2003) with a running time of up to 12 minutes, and can be entered in one or more of the following categories: Short Film; Newcomer; Title Sequences and Idents; Animation and Music Video.

Saturday July 26 sees the start of this year's festival week, with free screenings of shortlisted films running all week in bars, cafes and cinemas throughout Soho until Friday August 1.
The Curzon Soho will again host the Rushes Soho Shorts delegate centre for the entire festival week, as well as providing the venue for the ever-popular short film seminar, run in conjunction with the NPA.
The festival has not only attracted international attention with entries from over 17 different countries, but the awards night at Sound in Leicester Square has become a star-studded event attended by film luminaries such as Mike Leigh, Lee Tamahori and Gurinda Chadha and a host of celebrites including Neil Morrisey, Nick Moran and Keith Duffy, all of whom presented awards last year.
With Ray Winstone as the festival's official spokesperson and Terry Christian as the awards compere, the Rushes Soho Shorts party was the choice for Time Out's London party of the month.
