Rushes Soho Shorts Festival seeks entries

Following the phenomenal success of the fifth Rushes Soho Shorts Festival, entries are now being sought for the 2004 competition, to run from Saturday July 31 - Friday August 6 2004.
All films entered must have been produced in the last 12 months (up to May 7 2004), have a maximum running time of 12 minutes and be eligible for one of the following categories: Short Film; Newcomer; Title Sequences and Idents; Animation; Or Music Video.
The annual Rushes Soho Shorts Festival has become a highlight of London’s film calendar. This year’s event will feature free screenings of short-listed films in bars, cafés and cinemas throughout Soho. Once again, the Curzon Soho will host the delegate centre, (sponsored by Fentimans Drinks), in addition to providing the venue for the ever-popular short film seminar, which is run in conjunction with the NPA.
Rushes Soho Shorts Festival’s unique reputation as a non-profit making event, focused entirely on showcasing new talent, is enhanced each year. As a testament to this, a host of show business luminaries came along to support the cause and present prizes at the 2003 awards night. At the star-studded party held, as usual, at Sound in Leicester Square, nominees and winners mingled with Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, Leslie Philips, Nick Roeg, Ronnie Ancona, Nick Moran, Sean Pertwee and The Specials’ Jerry Dammers. With Charles Dance as the festival spokesperson and Terry Christian as the host for the evening. Sony have already confirmed as this year’s Awards Party sponsor.
However, the most important aspect of the festival is the impact that it has on the filmmakers who enter. In past years, winning directors have been snapped up by prestigious production companies immediately after their triumph and many films have gone on to achieve great success on the international festival circuit.
