FotoKem speeds DI Workflow with Nucoda
Digital Vision, a leading developer of advanced digital media applications specialising in film and video solutions, has announced that FotoKem, one of the largest postproduction facilities in the US, has added Nucoda Film Master to the powerful arsenal of tools in its Digital Film Services Division.
The Nucoda Film Master, located in FotoKem’s Burbank, California facility, includes a nine processor Nucoda computer platform with Valhall control panels for colour, media and image control. The system’s local storage system is built to real time colour correction and playback of 2K data.
Bill Schultz, Senior VP & General Manager, Fotokem Digital Film Services commented: “Nucoda Film Master offers a highly flexible and creative environment that allows our colorists to maximise the technology and work efficiently for our wide range of clients that include feature films, commercials, trailers and music videos.”
Robert Ekström, President of Digital Vision concluded: “We are delighted that FotoKem has chosen Digital Vision to enhance its DI workflow. The flexibility of the Nucoda data-centric software solutions delivers the same benefits to video as well as film providing a highly creative platform that can be fully exploited by FotoKem colourists.”
Using Nucoda Film Master, film facilities like FotoKem are migrating traditional video workflows to data allowing far greater freedom in decision making. Directors and cinematographers can look at what’s been created on the rushes and grade interactively allowing several versions to be created with decisions being made not just on the editorial, but also on the special effects and in fact the whole film, much later down the line providing a far greater creative and more productive workflow.
