Hollywood-based iO Film purchases fourth Nucoda System from Digital Vision

Digital Vision, a leading developer of advanced digital media applications specialising in film and video solutions, has announced that iO Film, a leading post facility in Hollywood, has purchased a Nucoda Film Master colour correction and conforming system in order to keep up with demand for their Digital Intermediate (DI) services for feature films. This will be the fourth Nucoda system installed at iO Film.
iO Film has used its existing Nucoda systems to produce the DIs for the Paul Haggis film ‘Crash’, starring Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle and Brendan Fraser, ‘Green Street Hooligans’, starring Elijah Wood and Claire Forlani, and ‘The Wedding Date’, starring Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney, as well as the yet-to-be-released ‘Neverwas’, starring Ian McKellen and Aaron Eckhart, and ‘10th and Wolf’, starring Dennis Hopper, Giovanni Ribisi, and Val Kilmer.
Howard Cohen, iO Film’s CEO, said: “Our business has been growing so quickly that we had to add another Nucoda suite in order to accommodate our expanding roster of feature film clients. We will build out a new suite in our new building in Hollywood specifically for this additional Nucoda Film Master system. Efficient workflow and a very sophisticated colour correction toolset are critical for our type of operation, so the Nucoda system is the only logical choice for us. Adam Hawkey, our senior colourist, loves the system and our clients love the creative results we give them.”
The latest Nucoda Film Master system to be installed at iO Film comes with SD and HD 444 capability as well as 2k and 4k 16bit processing. The system will be connected to iO Film’s existing Storage Area Network (SAN) in order to take advantage of Nucoda’s Shared Storage Architecture, which allows multiple Nucoda workstations to share access to the same set of material. This allows iO Film’s artists and engineers to support parallel workflows for several projects simultaneously saving time and money for their customers. It also lets the creative talent tell their stories with the wide range of colour and effects tools supported in the Nucoda system.
