BSkyB purchase Carbon Task Manager

US based company DayPort, the leading provider of Content Management Solutions and Content Delivery in the international market, has just implemented its Carbon Content Management System – the Carbon Task Manager - for content delivery at British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB).
BSkyB operates the UK's largest multi-channel, digital pay television platform and is a leading broadcaster of sports, movies, entertainment and news.
DayPort has installed its Carbon Task Manager, part of its enterprise-wide Carbon Content Management System, for Sky News Interactive based in Unit 1 at BSkyB’s London headquarters. Unit 1 is the brand new, purpose-built facility for BSkyB’s 24 hour news channel Sky News.
Cory Factor, CEO at DayPort, said: “We are very excited to have a progressive organisation like BSkyB join our list of customers. For DayPort, it’s not about the files, it’s about the workflow. A day’s life with DayPort should be much better than a day’s life without DayPort. We strive to make that large margin change in our customers operations.”
Factor continued: "In addition to the DayPort implementation at BSkyB providing them with solutions to existing problems, we hope it will also be a foundation for the rest of the DayPort solutions to solve other BSkyB issues as they arise.”
Providing BSkyB with this system again demonstrates the rapid take up of our Carbon Content Management solutions, which are specifically designed to address the converging operational and workflow needs of broadcasters and content producers alike. These are the solutions that the market is looking for."
Currently, Sky News Interactive journalists edit news stories using Quantel sQEdit work stations which are 'wrapped' around a Zone Magic, Quantel sQ Video Server architecture. The newly installed Quantel system provides the core content news production system for the Sky News channel. DayPort , through a developmental and integration partnership with Quantel, automatically extracts content from the broadcast production system, once the content is completed and approved.
