NEW SUBTITLING SYSTEM FOR BBC WORLDWIDE

SCREEN Subtitling Systems, in conjunction with Globecast, are to install a Hebrew transcode subtitling system for BBC Worldwide.
Screen subtitling Systems' (Screen) DVB solutions will be used to extract Hebrew teletext data from the VBI, and transcode this data to DVB bitmap subtitles. BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, are providing Hebrew subtitles on BBC Prime for viewers in Israel.
The order will consist of Screen’s Cabaret and DSE DVB subtitling solution. Cabaret is designed to provide a range of subtitle interface solutions for the digital broadcasting environment, and provides the ASI interface between Screen’s digital subtitle encoders and industry MPEG multiplexers. DSE, Screen’s digital subtitle encoder, is a DVB-compliant bitmap imaging system designed for multi language subtitle transmission.
In co-operation with all major distributors in the Israel market, Golden Channels Matav, Tevel and digital satellite platform BBC Prime is subtitling a significant amount of their prime time programming including some of the channel’s most popular programmes up to eight hours in total each day.
