Subtitling system at BBC Wales goes live with Isis

On Monday May 19 the subtitling unit at BBC Wales went live for news with Starfish Technologies' Isis subtitling system, creating both live and pre-recorded subtitles for BBC Wales regional programmes.
The seven Isis clients and two servers will be used to provide subtitling on five channels.
Chosen for the flexibility, which allows BBC Wales to use the same workstations for both pre-recorded and live work, Isis is integrated with the existing stenography and speech recognition system. Any number of users can connect to the same subtitling project and changes made by any one are visible to all in real time. Remote monitoring applications, showing the subtitles being transmitted and server status, are provided to technical support and transmission staff.
