A new reference for SGT in the Netherlands

The new Dutch private television channel Talpa has been broadcasting since August 13, 2005, using products from SGT's Media Management and Transmission Management lines.
Owned by John de Mol, Talpa broadcasts in particular via satellite, the Internet and UMTS mobile phones.
SGT carried out the installation of its products in partnership with Grass Valley. The architecture is based on three Grass Valley video servers, an archiving system and a post-production server.
The operators are able to handle all the phases of their broadcast workflow: requests for ingest (low and high bitrate) and digitisation of programmes, quality check and confirmation, archiving, offline editing, automatic restore and playout.
SGT allows Talpa to carry out offline editing operations with the SGT Browser, which was integrated as an OCX component in a third-party traffic system. The operators can also use the Offline Editing Light module of Media Manager for these functions.
The users in charge of creating promotions carry out offline edits in low bitrate format and export them in EDL format to the editing stations. The DBOS Loader module of Media Manager automatically makes the high bitrate contents needed for the edits available on a dedicated post-production server, with partial restore if needed.
In addition, to meet its very specific requirements in terms of graphic insertion, Talpa needed high-performance technical tools. That is why it decided to install three CG Autocast products by SGT. They make it easy to automate the graphic insertions for all three of Talpa's transmission networks: satellite, mobile phone and Internet.
