Unique scheme springboards local talent to top jobs
Five young and talented individuals have secured top placements at leading production companies in the South West, after seeing off competition from 450 other applicants.
The South West Attachment Scheme, created by South West Screen - the agency which promotes film, television and digital media – enabled the successful individuals to secure 18 month placements with south-west based Aardman Animations, Available Light, BBC, Big Squid, Bolex Brothers, Granada, Touch Productions and Twofour Productions.
Rosie Thomas, Annabel Maidment, Kyli John and Libby Overton from Bristol and Amy Stanton from Plymouth, came out on top after a challenging selection day held at Bristol Zoo with expert judges and a mixture of unusual activities including a spy game and pitching a documentary idea on ‘The day in the life of a zookeeper’.
All five girls have been offered jobs off the back of their work placements and agree the unique scheme has given them a fantastic opportunity and springboard from which to develop their careers.
Caroline Norbury, Chief Executive at South West Screen said, “South West Screen is dedicated to nurturing and developing local talent and this scheme is hugely successful for the individuals and companies involved.”
The South West Attachment Scheme was supported by Skillset, South West RDA and the aforementioned production companies.
