South West Screen Promote The Innovative Way
An innovative way of engaging audiences with a new feature film is being pioneered by South West Screen and digital creative company Team Rubber.
Interest in Eight Minutes Idle will be built online as part of a competition to find a piece of original music to soundtrack a house party scene in the film.
Short clips from the film have now started to appear on a specially created Facebook page. More clips will be added during the four weeks of the competition in a way to introduce some of the film’s main characters.
Eight Minutes Idle, a twisted romantic comedy set in a Bristol call centre, stars up-and-coming young British actors Tom Hughes and Ophelia Lovibond. It is the second film to be made as part of South West Screen’s iFeatures slate, funded by South West Screen and BBC Films, and supported by the BFI Film Fund.
iFeatures Executive Producer Chris Moll said: “The competition that South West Screen has launched with Team Rubber is an exciting new project made right here in Bristol.
“It will be great exposure for the winning musicians and, during the promotion of the competition, a great way of driving interest in Eight Minutes Idle.”
The link-up between South West Screen and Team Rubber is part of the iFeatures Innovate programme, in which South West digital companies have teamed up with the filmmakers throughout the production process to create and implement initial audience engagement strategies for each of the films.
The aim of Innovate, supported by the Creative Industries iNet, is to make the very best use of online, mobile and interactive tools and services to identify and connect with potential audiences.
The two other iFeatures films, In the Dark Half and Flying Blind, will also be teaming up with a creative partner for their own Innovate programme.
Rubber Republic Creative Director Matt Golding said: “We're really behind Eight Minutes Idle, especially as it’s local and taps into lots of the culture of our daily lives. We worked hard with the team to develop fun content and hope to get audiences hooked in right from the word go.”
