IBIS FORGE AHEAD WITH MOS
INTEGRATION is one of the greatest challenges in broadcast systems design today, and key to successful integration is effective communication between separate elements.
While most manufacturers offer their own protocol, MOS – (Media Object Server protocol), proposed by Associated Press, is the only one to offer the potential of a universal solution.
IBIS, one of the pioneers of MOS applications in their automation and server management technologies has already been able to demonstrate a dynamic MOS gateway working between their SprinTx server management system and AP's ENPS newsroom computer. Shown at IBC late last year the IBIS dynamic gateway enables the playout module of its SprinTx to interrogate the newsroom computer and to upload new running orders, and any changes, as they occur.
SprinTx is constructed so that detailed information about new material is made available to a newsroom system via the IBIS ingest engine, ServerLoad, whilst the dynamic MOS gateway updates the IBIS playout system ServerPlay when changes are made to the running order. Systems which do not enjoy the benefits of IBIS's MOS dynamic gateway need to carry out these functions manually.
With the growing acceptance of MOS as a universal communication protocol this not only ensures that IBIS continues to offer the most effective media management solutions but also ensures that SprinTx integrates seamlessly with the widest possible range of OEM systems in today's busy news and sports studios.
