IBIS Inc appointed for MOS-enabled gallery playout by ESPN

Following NAB, IBIS Inc has announced selection by ESPN to provide MOS-enabled Production Control Room (PCR) playout applications.
During the past nine months, IBIS Inc has been providing PCR playout automation for the new HD control rooms at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, CT, USA.
IBIS HD/SD automation suite is a modular 24/7 system which has been specially designed for the news and sports environment. In this particular configuration, the IBIS system comprises ingest/content acquisition tools and playout applications running with a MOS gateway.
IBIS Inc’s involvement in the project has increased steadily over the last 12 months and comprises several IBIS process management tools working in a multiple video server environment. The applications track the progression of video clips from editing through to the rundown process. Key to this workflow management are IBIS ServerPlay and IBIS ServerLoad, both of which are fundamental components of IBIS’ award winning Media Management Broadcast Automation and Centralization Solution. ServerPlay is linked via MOS to ESPN’s ENPS newsroom system; the MOS-enabled ServerPlay reports and reflects changes to the program run down from ENPS allowing the playout operator to stay in touch with any editorial changes being made in the newsroom. ServerPlay also allows flexible playout as clips can be played in any order within the playlist using the IBIS ServerPlayOut keypad.
“Working with ESPN on this project has not only been challenging, given the complexity of ESPN’s live schedule, but also an enjoyable journey of discovery,” says Mike Shaw, IBIS’ Managing Director. “What started out as a pilot project for IBIS and ESPN, has grown over the past year to something very special.
“Although the applications IBIS has provided are part of our standard 24/7 modular offering, working with ESPN has lead to the development of a number of enhancements and refinements which will in turn benefit all our customers”.
