Scopus continues Asian expansion with Japan office

Scopus Network Technologies, a leading supplier of digital TV networking to the broadcasting industry, has announced the opening of a Tokyo office.
The Tokyo office will serve the Japanese market and assume overall responsibility for Scopus’ Japanese activities including promotion of Scopus’ products among local multi-service operators and cable providers.
“The decision to open an additional Asian office coincides with the rapid growth that the Japanese market is undergoing”, remarked Scopus’ VP Sales, Eitan Koter.
Koter explained that Scopus’ rapidly expanding Japanese client list required the opening of an office to provide those customers with the best possible treatment, in real time and in local language.
Scopus’ Japanese customers include TV Tokyo in the broadcast field; JSAT and Space Communications among satellite clients; KDDI, Japan Telecom and Nexion among major Japanese Telco carriers and Muracam in the DTH services field. Scopus’ Japanese business partners include Moubic, Rikei and Kyowa Exeo.
Heading the Tokyo office is Mr. Takayuki Hirano, an experienced marketing, sales and business development professional. In his role as Scopus’ Senior Sales Manager -Japan, Mr. Hirano is responsible for the company’s market development and sales in Japan. Prior to Scopus, Mr. Hirano was Director of Japan operations for a major international provider of movie/audio Digital Rights Management software. Previously, he also successfully founded four Japanese technology companies.
“I am looking forward to further developing Scopus activities and enlarging the company’s business in Japan’s digital video TV market,” said Mr Hirano.
Commenting on the new Tokyo office, Koter added: “As a result of the increasing demand for advanced broadcast infrastructure, we expect that total sales in Asia will dramatically increase in the next three years. In fact, Scopus’ expanding activities in Japan represent the company’s belief that this market will grow extensively over the next decade.”
