Scopus partners with Simac Broadcast for European market

Scopus Network Technologies, a leading supplier of digital television video networking to the broadcast industry, has announced a partnership with Simac Broadcast, a leading broadcast systems integrator and maintenance services provider.
Simac Broadcast will provide fully integrated digital broadcast project support services to European Satellite, Telco, Cable and Terrestrial service providers and broadcasters utilising Scopus platforms.
The partnership between Scopus and Simac Broadcast represents a step forward for centralising Scopus’ integration, service and support operations in Europe. Simac Broadcast’s vast experience in integrating and managing projects will enable Scopus to deploy its comprehensive digital broadcast platforms more quickly to customers and will add value to Scopus’ already efficient service support structure.
Scopus and Simac Broadcast’s first joint project is the installation of a full digital headend in Alkmaar for Multikabel, the Netherlands’ leading cable operator with 400,000 subscribers receiving more than 100 channels. The new digital headend incorporates all of Scopus’ IVN (Intelligent Video Network) components including IRDs for reception, Encoders for compression, IVGs (Integrated Video Gateways) for grooming and scrambling and an NMS management system all supported by full integration services from Simac Broadcast.
Dick Hamann, Simac Broadcast’s Managing Director, said: “Originating from the former Philips DTS organisation and as an independent system integrator and service provider to the broadcast industry, we at Simac are looking for innovative and reliable partners that can offer new solutions for our vast customer base and are happy to have found one in Scopus. This cooperation offers a smooth migration path to our customers and our years of expertise will provide customers with the right services at the right time.”
Scopus Sales Vice President, Eitan Koter, said: “Partnering with Simac Broadcast brings a powerful boost to our capabilities in Europe. With a proven track record as a top technical service provider and integrator Simac Broadcast adds greater value to our offerings and we look forward to strengthening our position in Europe together.” Koter added: “The first fruit of this cooperation is visible in the full digital headend project for Multikabel in Alkmaar.”
