Indian companies choose Scopus cable head-end systems

Scopus Network Technologies has secured two new contract wins in India's cable television market.
Scopus has been selected by Pacenet, a cable broadcaster from Mumbai, to deploy complete head-end and sub-head-end platforms while Siticable, India’s largest MSO (Multi-System Operator), has chosen Scopus' head-end systems for digital video broadcasting that includes interactive video services.
Pacenet is being equipped with cable head-end platforms upgrading its infrastructure from analogue to digital. At its Mumbai head-end and at its Delhi sub-head-end, Scopus is deploying professional receivers, the IRD-2600, Statistical Multiplexer, RTM-3800 and modulators configured for the cable market. The platforms not only distribute content between the head-ends but also were specially constructed to seamlessly integrated with Pacenet’s proprietary conditional access system.
For Siticable, Scopus' E-1000 Encoders and IRD-2600s are also at the centre of its cable television head-ends. These digital broadcast encoders are fitted to ensure that both today's and future interactive video services are handled efficiently even as greater bandwidth is utilized. Scopus' E-1000 are also integrated with a conditional access system from Conax, a Scopus partner.
Kishore Shirekar, Scopus Director of Sales to India, said: "These two new wins show that Scopus' platforms match the growing and maturing needs of the market in India. With our technology, service and ability to configure platforms to meet cable broadcasters digital needs, we look forward to an exciting time for Scopus in India, especially as the cable television market grows in importance and revenues."
