Dialog Telecom Selects Scopus Solutions To Power Its New IPTV Distribution Network In Poland

Scopus Video Networks has announced that Dialog Telecom, Poland's second-largest independent telecommunications operator, has launched its news IPTV service using a video distribution network based on Scopus video networking solutions.
At the core of Dialog's new IPTV video distribution network is the Scopus Eldorado NMS (Network Management System), which offers redundancy and a centralised view of the entire network to simplify troubleshooting and help Dialog engineers maintain consistent, high-quality transmissions for 24 channels.
Scopus' IRD-2900 series of integrated receiver/decoders receive satellite video feeds carrying both Polish and international content. Scopus UE-9000 encoders then provide local content encoding for distribution of the video to viewers' homes over IP. The IPTV network was installed by SATLAN, a leading systems integrator serving the IPTV and cable industries in Poland.
Dialog launched its TV-over-broadband service in early 2008 with the goal of expanding its market share of broadband customers. Dialog chose Scopus following a pilot IPTV project that established the need for a more industrial-strength platform for encoding, multiplexing and network management. The new IPTV service adds video on demand (VOD) and personal video recorder (PVR) services that, combined with IP telephony and high-speed Internet access, give Dialog a complete triple-play offering.
Piotr Mazurkiewicz, President of the board of Dialog Telecom, said: "The reliability and high performance of the Scopus equipment have given us a true competitive advantage as we bring our triple-play offering to the market. Another large advantage is the availability of Scopus' local integration partner, Satlan, who delivered the technology components and got the system up and running very quickly."
Shimon Shanor, Scopus' Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said: "Dialog recognised that it needed to implement a bulletproof networking infrastructure in order to deliver the highest-quality IPTV services to viewers - and we are happy that Scopus solutions were able to meet the requirements.
"As IPTV becomes more widespread for high-quality, cost-effective delivery of video content, we are dedicated to providing telecom operators a competitive edge through our robust family of video delivery and networking products."
