NI FILM COMMISSION SURVEY LOCATIONS

THE Northern Ireland Film Commission (NIFC) in association with the Screen Commission of Ireland are well underway with the crossborder Locations Database project.
To date over 500 locations have been surveyed in Northern Ireland and the six most northerly counties of the Republic of Ireland. Sarah Perry has recently joined the team of locations surveyors and will be covering Donegal, Londonderry, Tyrone and Antrim. Nial Fulton and Colin McIvor continue to survey counties Sligo, Leitrim, Cavan, Fermanagh, Louth, Monaghan, Armagh and Down.
A minimum of 1200 locations including houses, landscapes, National Trust properties and industrial heritage will be fully surveyed between February 2000 and June 2001.
Funded by the International Fund for Ireland and the European Union’s INTERREG programme, the project targets weird and wonderful locations that stand out and are visually exciting. Andrew Reid, Head of Locations and Information at the NIFC, said: “We are not just looking for houses, but also fields with a great view, a factory with unusual features or an island on a lake. Anything that shows the diversity of the region will be considered.”
For more information about the project contact Joanne Holland at the Locations Office on (028) 9023 2444 or email [email protected]. (CD)
