4MC COMPLETE VIDEO POST ON SCREENPLAY
4MC, a renowned Soho-based facilities house, have completed the video post on a remake of the Orson Welles classic cinematic screenplay ‘The Magnificent Ambersons’ produced by The De Angelis Group in association with RKO Pictures.
Shot on 3-perf 35mm negative, the rushes were transferred ‘Best Light’ 525 to Digi-Beta by Senior Colourist, Brian Metherell on C-Reality. The final tape grade was carried out by Senior Colourist Alan Bishop, on Pogle Platinum with Electric Sun Roof.
The latest major US 3-perf feature film undertaken by 4MC this year, ‘The Magnificent Ambersons’ is set against a backdrop of the age of industry at the turn of the 20th century - therefore a bleach bypass look with a wide range of contrast was requested. Further grading was carried out on the blue screen FX inserts and slow motion effects.
Edit online was shared between 4MC’s top Editors’ Simon Horobin and Andy Wood. Work carried out included: conform and de-spot in 525 on Avid Symphony Universal, titling in a linear suite on Collage, then pan and scan to 4:3 in Symphony from the16:9 master, followed by re-versioning for UK and international distribution.
