4MC COMPLETES POST ON ‘LOST’ FOR CHANNEL 4

4MC have completed post work on the entire series of the ultimate travel challenge TV series ‘Lost’, which was aired on Channel 4 Monday October 1.
The show will air three days a week over the next five weeks.
Tape to tape grading was carried out by Telecine Colourist, Rob Wickings using Pogle Platinum and DCP with additional noise reduction via Digital Vision’s DVNR ASC2. Producer Rob Davies, the creator of ‘Lost’ had requested a specific look throughout the series to reflect the hostile environment and emotional highs and lows of the contestants.
Telecine Colourist Rob Wickings explains: “ Grading was quite a challenge. There were fifteen episodes in total with three episodes per show, plus five omnibus versions. At the start of each location the pictures were graded with a cold de-saturated look to reflect the feeling of being lost and disorientated. However as the travellers began to head toward civilization we gradually warmed up the grade to give the footage a more welcoming look. “
4MC editors, Simon Horobin conformed the shows using Avid Symphony while Rob Cooper carried out online effects, titling (on Collage) and sweetening (noise reduction) in a digital linear suite followed by re-versions for international distribution.
