ITC ACCEPT REQUEST FROM SKY5TEXT

THE ITC have accepted a request from Sky5Text for the revocation of their Additional Service Licence.
The Sky5Text licence, which makes provision for the use of spare capacity within analogue terrestrial signals on Channel 5, will continue until the end of this year, and then cease.
The ITC will now proceed to establish whether others are interested in using the capacity. An invitation to apply will be issued on December 6.
The closing date for applications will be March 1, 2002. The award of the licence will be by competitive tender as required by the Broadcasting Act 1990.
It is anticipated the licence will be granted by the end of April 2002. (CD)
