This Scotland 2004 projects announced
Scottish Television, Grampian Television and Scottish Screen have announced details of the forthcoming award winning and internationally acclaimed documentary series ‘This Scotland’.
Since its inception in 2000, This Scotland has gained a reputation as innovative, dynamic and thought provoking. Poetry, a lost film, addiction, black culture, silent protest, lumber jacks, jokers, tugboats and clockwork trains are just some of the topics to be covered in this year's series of documentaries.
This Scotland is jointly sponsored by Scottish Screen, Scottish Television and Grampian Television.
Steve McIntyre, Chief Executive of Scottish Screen, said: “Once again it has been a difficult job choosing just twelve documentaries from the hundreds of submissions that we received for This Scotland. Audiences will, I am sure, be charmed by the range of subjects and ideas in the new series. We are very proud of this scheme as it allows people with good ideas and stories to tell, who may have no previous experience of filmmaking, to undertake a commission with help and mentoring from industry professionals all the way through. We are confident that the experience will produce some very competent new talent for the industry in Scotland."
Henry Eagles, Executive Producer at SMG, added: “Our partnership with Scottish Screen and its results are the envy of major broadcasters both here in the UK and in Europe. Not only do they generate a large amount of interest for the viewing public they also generate thousands of column inches in the national press. This Scotland, along with our other schemes, delivers quality award-winning film and television that Scotland can be proud of.”
Details of the chosen submissions can be found at www.scottishscreen.com.
This Scotland is to be transmitted on Scottish Television and Grampian Television in two six-week parts, one in the Spring and the other in the Autumn.
