Scottish Screen support Creative Scotland launch

Scottish Screen has welcomed proposals set out before the Scottish Parliament for the establishment of Creative Scotland – a single, integrated development agency, with sole responsibility for leading the development of the arts, creative and screen industries across the country.
Ken Hay, Chief Executive of Scottish Screen, recognises the need for change: “Since starting at Scottish Screen in April last year, it has been clear that a fresh approach was required for leading and supporting the development of the cultural and creative industries. I believe that this announcement is both radical and sensible and will produce a better deal for creative talent, businesses and audiences.
“Scottish Screen recognises the importance of developing constructive relationships with local authorities, and looks forward to working in partnership with them in developing a framework for implementing the concept of cultural rights and entitlements.
“I particularly welcome the announcement of merging the Scottish Screen Archive with the National Library of Scotland.”
