Cyfle organise industry training workshops
Cyfle, The Welsh media agency, have organised a series of workshops throughout Wales aimed at identifying television producers of the future.
These workshops will be held as follows: March 25 – BBC, Cardiff; March 26– Trinity College, Carmarthen; March 27– University of Wales Aberystwyth; April 2– Coleg Llandrillo; 3 April – Cyfle, Caernarfon.
Each workshop will last all day and will provide participants with an opportunity to learn more about the industry and to discuss ideas. The workshops will be lead by Cyfle Training Director, Richard Morris Jones, and the Director/Producer, Elwyn Vaughan Williams, with the help of other experienced industry professionals.
The format of the workshop will be simple. Participants will be split into groups and a subject will be set for all groups which will be the basis for the participants to discuss ideas about the subject from the point of view of creating a news item, an item for a documentary, and as a drama.
Following the workshops, 18 people will be chosen to attend a special Summer School at the Barcud television studio in Caernarfon, for the week July 15-19. At the Summer School, participants will be guided by experienced producers in the use of state of the art equipment in order to produce a television programme, from initial idea to the finished programme.
Siôn Hughes, Chief Executive of Cyfle, said: “These workshops kick off an exciting process within the media in Wales which will lead to the first Cyfle Summer School for talented young people.
“We are looking for talented young people, over the age of 18, who are full of ideas for the television programmes of the future, so that we can nurture and encourage them from a young age to a successful career in the media.”
Anyone over 18 who is eager to attend one of the workshops should contact Cyfle for an application form, either by phoning:
