Wales Screen Commission and Cyfle join forces

The Wales Screen Commission and Cyfle have joined forces to create a new initiative aimed at gathering information on potential film locations across South East Wales.
The initiative will also provide valuable training and work experience to trainees in the film and TV industry.
Under the scheme, trainees already on Cyfle training courses in film and media have the opportunity to work with staff from the newly established South East Wales office of the Wales Screen Commission. Based in Cardiff Bay, this office is one of the four constituent offices of the new Wales Screen Commission (the others being in South West Wales, North Wales and Mid Wales), and from here the team of Allison Dowzell and Penny Skuse provide assistance, advice and support to film-makers coming to their area. One aspect of their work is finding suitable potential locations for films considering shooting in the area, and this is where the partnership with Cyfle becomes so valuable.
The two Cyfle trainees taking part, Hannah Williams and Steve Milne, are following a Broadcast NVQ in Production, which has a location management module as part of the qualification.
Now with the involvement of the Wales Screen Commission the students learn about the variety of locations available in the region, and how a film commission office works.
