Cyfle Hold Newtorking Event In Association With Derwen

A highly successful Cyfle networking event, in association with Derwen, was held in Cardiff Omni Studios recently, paving the way for future collaborations with Wales’s largest facility house.
The evening event, which brought together over 40 staff and freelance workers from across Wales, aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of creating photosensitive broadcast materials in the company of expert Professor Graham Harding.
Rhys Bevan, Derwen Managing Director, emphasises the importance of the highly informative evening. "The event was very successful and provided an opportunity to learn more about the subject from the famous Graham Harding.” explains Rhys. “I believe that those attending came to realise the true importance of the subject and Derwen will be working with Cyfle again in the future to arrange further networking events throughout the year.”
Also attending was Arshad Rasul, S4C Director of Broadcast and Distribution, who was there to answer questions on behalf of the channel. “A very informative and interesting evening was had by all,” insisted Arshad Rasul. “The opportunity to hear Professor Harding talk on the subject, to discuss the various aspects of Photo Sensitive Epilepsy and the use of practical techniques to reduce the risk to the viewer, made attendance very rewarding,” he continued. “On top of this, the chance to informally discuss any aspects that affect us as broadcasters, production and facilities companies in such an informal and congenial atmosphere is one that I would recommend to all in future."
Shân Gwenfron Hughes, Cyfle Manager of Professional Development, is certain that events of this nature are essential to ensure that the Welsh workforce is fully aware of the impact of new technologies. “Hopefully this networking event, in association with Derwen, will be one of many future events that will enable us to enhance the professional development of individuals within the industry,” explained Shân. “It is an ideal setting for industry practitioners to learn about the new advances in technology that will affect their day to day jobs.”
