Iskra Television sees upturn in advertising business

UK-based distributor, Iskra Television, have announced a series of deals with commercials production houses and agencies for clips from their television clip library.
The clips are to be used in cross-media projects ranging from Internet commercials in the US to prime-time television advertising for household names throughout Europe and also the US.
Predominantly, Iskra licenses clips from Russia and the Iskra library has over 14,000 clips available for licensing in a variety of categories such as home video out-takes, broadcast bloopers, hidden camera and reality footage.
The deals were brokered by Iskra TV agent, Richard Jeffs, who said: "The clips are fun – remarkable clips of real people capturing events in their lives. These seem to relate to the producers of commercials. People like seeing 'real-people' clips on TV and it is a cost effective way of getting an audience to relate to the product".
News of the Iskra development follows hard on the heels of the ITV deal to manage Channel 4's archive clips. There has been increased market interest in the sales potential of archive clips, which are mostly distributed to independent production houses.
