BBC ONLINE VICTORY CLIPS ‘CYBERFLYERS’ WINGS

THE BBC have won an international ruling that regains the domain name www.bbcnews.com for the corporation.
Previous registrants 'cyberflyers' were using the domain name to draw business for gambling sites, but under the ruling they must now transfer it to the BBC.
BBC Intellectual Property Lawyer Saul Venit said: “We are pleased that the international arbitration procedure has proved so effective even in the face of so-called ‘cyberflying’. Once again, this case shows that the BBC will take firm action against those who seek to exploit their valuable trademark on the internet.”
The ruling is believed to be the first successful case brought under arbitration proceedings against so-called ‘cyberflying’.
The final decision was issued against both Data Art Corporation of California, United States of America and Stoneybrook of Belize.
