Miranda Vertigo XG Streams Clips For TSR

Miranda Technologies has announced that Télévision Suisse Romande (TSR), a Swiss TV network serving the country's estimated 1.6 million French-speaking citizens, has launched a new, completely automated information channel which uses Miranda's Vertigo XG graphics engine and Xmedia Suite to pull content directly from TSR's web site.
"We needed to address the challenge of building a system that could deliver a real-time news channel based on our Web site content," said Guy Dessaux of TSR. "We wanted to be able to bring streaming video clips in Microsoft's Windows Media format back to the broadcast environment, as well as control the playlist through our Web content tool."
Systems integrator Multimedia Architects was retained by TSR to design, build, and test the system for the new info channel and train its video editors, journalists, graphics, and IT personnel. The Miranda team provided additional assistance in programming the channel's layout in Xstudio, which includes a crawling banner providing real-time news from Swiss news agency Swisstext, and a sidebar displaying text that supports the video clip being played.
Edited video clips are streamed to TSR's web content tool, which the Xmedia Suite application continually checks for new clips. New clips are pulled along with XML metadata - titles, texts and Time Code - and integrated into a playlist. The Vertigo XG graphics engine converts the clips from the streaming Windows Media format to an SDI signal with embedded audio.
Broadcast on TSR's second channel, TSR2, the info program offers news flashes updated about 10 times a day, weather forecast maps updated three times a day, and TSR's prime-time announcements.
