Pact Boosted As New Comms Act Looms

The UK trade association that represents and promotes the commercial interests of independent feature film, television, digital, children's and animation media companies, Pact, has announced additional resources to the Pact team in the run up to the new Communications Act.
The new posts will include an additional lawyer working in legal and business affairs and increased resources to support Pact's extensive policy work.
Given the large number of high-level union negotiations which Pact has to play a valuable part in, it was agreed too that Pact Chief Executive John McVay would lead on all future talks and Industrial Relations.
Mr McVay said: "I'm very pleased to announce the additional investment in Pact and the slight shift of emphasis for myself. It has been agreed that the invaluable Business Affairs function which Pact provides must be properly prepared for what looks like a rigorous next couple of years with unions and broadcasters.
"Similarly, the board has agreed that Pact's Policy department would also benefit from more firepower going into an intense period leading up to the new Communications Act."
He added: "This strategic review, in part prompted by the departure of Pact's previous Director of Legal and Business Affairs, Tony Dillon, has provided a useful re-think around Pact's resources which will enable us to continue to improve the service we provide for our members."
